What is urgent care?

Urgent care is a medical service that takes care of non-emergency injuries and illnesses — the types of health issues that need medical attention but not a visit to the emergency room. 

My NP is a family and occupational medicine practice that provides efficient urgent care services. If you need medical care and can’t get an appointment with your primary care provider, they can help. 

My NP is also a primary care practice and can serve as your primary care provider, managing all your general health needs. 

What conditions benefit from urgent care?

Urgent care at My NP manages all types of illnesses and injuries. Conditions that benefit from urgent care include:

• Cuts and lacerations
• Fever
• Earache

• Allergies
• Exacerbation of a chronic disease (arthritis, asthma)

What can I expect during urgent care?

You can expect patient-centered care during your urgent care visit at My NP. The team asks detailed questions about your concerns and symptoms in addition to reviewing your medical history and the medications you take. 

For in-office urgent care visits, they perform a physical exam and may request diagnostic tests to confirm or rule out a diagnosis. Testing may include urinalysis, bloodwork, or an X-ray.

Once your provider has a diagnosis, they talk to you about your condition and treatment needs. The team prescribes medication and makes referrals when appropriate. They may schedule a follow-up visit to monitor your health and healing.

You can also see the team through telemedicine if you’re unable to get to the office. You can expect the same prompt and attentive care through your virtual visit, but without having to leave the comfort of your home.
